In 1997 pope John Paul II visited Tatra
mountains. As a memorial we celebrate Zakopane Days every year.
Additionaly, children and youth of Poland meet up in our town to
improve their talents, anwering one of the last calls of John Paul
II: "I was searching for You..." ("Szukałem Was").
During four festival days we explore teachings and live of John Paul
II. Contestants compete against each other for Mayor of Town Zakopane
prizes in theater, music literature and plastic arts. Annualy, the
festival answers the words of a pope: "I was searching for You,
and now You came to me". It gathers young people who want to
live and create according to christian values and teachings of John
Paul II. Next days begin with the Eucharist in Zakopane churches and
end up with concerts. During those concerts, highlander culture and
tradition, invited artists from Poland and also Laureates from last
festival editions are presented. Yearlasting cooperation with
Salvatorian Priests resulted in Religious Song Festival in Trzebnica
Laureate concert. Free entrance for all the events.
Christian Creation Festival is youth
and culture celebration during Zakopane Days, which were created by
resolution XLIII/437/2002 from Town Council of Zakopane to
commemorate pope John Paul II visit to Zakopane and Tatra mountains
in june 1997.
Fesival's organizers are: Mayor of Town
Zakopane with support from local parishes, Zakopane Cultural Center
